It's amazing that people can't see the satire in this. It's the New Yorker, for God's sake, one of the most left-leaning magazines around! The worst part is that McCain came out and called it tasteless and wrong. Why doesn't he just keep his mouth shut? If he's not willing to take Obama down, he should at least not be helping build him up.
For sure, that was a satire making fun of republicans. If they both could just shut up. Imagine what world leaders must be thinking of these two pussy footing and acting like prep girls instead of great military leaders of a superpower.
You know, Mc Cain is in a surreal world too my friend. He would be best to take a two month world tour where he does no interviews and takes himself out of the news.
McCain is such a disappointment it makes me sick. If he wins, it will be through no fault of his own or his campaign's. To have to choose between a pair of mediocrities like these two is what's embarrassing, not the fact that most Americans don't speak French.
@jmcd7910 - in reality, don't you think both campaigns are seriously derailed? I think there is buyers remorse in all camps. I still give the odds to Mc Cain as Obama with a democratic congress is not something that could be tolerated. Mc Cain would be bad enough.
@jmcd7910 - I had posited back in 05 that I thought we made a mistake and just should have voted down ticket in 04. Some friends of mine did.
The worst thing that happened was Bush with a republican congress. If Kerry had a republican congress, they would have had to become conservatives again. They blew it so bad, they lack credibility they can fix it enough to take it back this election, with the congressional approval rating being at a all time low!
It is time to be registered anti-incumbant for about 10 years-turn and burn. The professional politicaians have sold us out.
