  • What I've been up to

I haven't been on xanga as much because I have been out in the trenches.  I filed our non-profit corporation papers in Harrisburg two weeks ago when we were down in support of two nullification bills being introduced.

The website for TURN is http://turnpa.com

Here was a write up that ran on the fromt page referencing a meeting we had to see if there was sufficient interest in starting a chapter in a town about 35 miles from here.

Taxpayers organize to protest direction of country

CURWENSVILLE - About 35 people attended a meeting last night at the Curwensville Community Center to determine interest in starting a Taxpayers United for Representation Now chapter.
The meeting was organized by John Wright of Curwensville and John Balliet of DuBois who recently filed articles of incorporation for having TURN declared a non-profit corporation in Pennsylvania.
Wright and Balliet said TURN is a continuation organization hoping to take advantage of the interest garnered by the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) events that began about a year ago and put some action behind the movement.
TEA parties were held to protest the passage of a trillion-dollar stimulus package by the federal government. Balliet said those events sent a message to legislators that most of them are no longer in touch with the needs and desires of the American citizen.
Information provided by Balliet said the TURN members want to tell Congress they are fed up with the current administration creating a nation of people who are dependent on government programs and management when America was founded on being a nation of independent people who cherish freedom.
TURN, Balliet said, will provide focus for turning the momentum of the protests into activities and projects that will hopefully change the direction the nation is headed.
Wright said he believes each TURN chapter would have a slightly different purpose depending on what direction members choose to direct the group's concentration. "Some will be interested in making a change locally, some the state government and others will work on a national level," he said.
Both men said they believe those interests can all exist within the same group as long as members agree government is no longer following the Constitution of the United States and should return to the principles of the law the country was founded on.
Both men said last night they are not interested in creating a third party but want a TURN to be a non-partisan organization made up of people who want to develop a mechanism to alter the nation's current course.
Balliet told the crowd last night that TURN believes the federal government has become too big, inefficient and costly and no longer cares about what its residents want.
He said now is the time to alter the pattern before it is too late.
Wright said last night that if those in the audience agreed, the new chapter could hold monthly meetings with presentations, public policy discussions and guest speakers who would discuss topics oriented to returning to a constitutional Republic, restoring the rule of law and insisting on truth and integrity in the current two-party system.
Wright said in an interview following last night's meeting that a second meeting will be scheduled in March in the Curwensville or Clearfield area with the date, time and place to be announced.

Pretty exciting.  That's really cool! I love that you did this, are doing this---and still can do this.  Yea, America!  Yea, Americans!

    Thank you!

Hmmm....seems to me that these events were what started a revolution about 200 or so years ago. Is that what Obama wants? An INTERNAL revolution? He must. He and NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNCCCCCCCCCYYYYY.

@BooksForMe - Yes, it actually has been a pretty exciting last three months. I miss blogging, but I am doing less talking about what people need to do and implementing it myself.

I have also been surprised at the reception I have received from some public officials, some even calling my home now. Once they see that you incorporate and are not a "b-fest" but out to change public policy how you are received and treated makes a big difference. Does it change the world...well it changes things locally by organizing people and we are partnering with groups of like mind so are already noted for having regional impact.  Thanks

@DirtyAndShaken - I am getting a lot of satisfaction giving people direction on things to do and then actually watching them do it. I was at a meeting last week where I was invited to address what we are doing and the meeting had six people who were involved with the one project in attendance . They were doing a great job of setting the stage ..in fact, I didnt even need to show up..they had it handled. That was rewarding. It reminded me of my management theory...train to replace. If I can get people to do what I need done, I can concentrate on other issues.

@yorel - thanks, I appreciate the encouragement. There are days I wake up pulling twisted shivs out of my back and encouragement is the proper medicine.

@winniezpoo - and like 230 years ago we are going through the steps to address our grievance with our government. Like 230 years ago the response is similar..but this time it is our government, not Great Britian
