Feeling secure with Homeland Security? Don't
The clip immediately below is a bit more concise than the original clip I posted so I updated the post. The success rate was 100% at getting bomb making material through security in ten level four federal buildings. Unacceptable.
"CBS -- The federal protective service guards 9,000 facilities and more than a million federal employees. But some serious questions are rising about how secure those buildings really are. Bob Orr reports"
Less than eight years after September 11th, 2001 with new federal agencies designed to "make you feel safe", new laws granting the federal government more power "to protect you", what is the prognosis?
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

tsk tsk...
nothing the government does makes me feel safe...i make myself feel safe by putting myself firmly in the Hand of the God whom i serve...nothin' else needed....
@tialoca_talks - you "got" what I routinely point out. Governments will fail us and can not provide safety
government was never meant to provide safety other than to wage war...manage money supply(man, are they blowing that now)...moderate international trade...ridiculous what we have allowed it to become...
i have no problem with government offices providing security for their offices,,, which they cannot do according to the video...
the moment,,, the very moment,,, i heard jr utter the word homeland security i put him on my list of idiots. he never got off it,,, homeland security is just as it was planned,,, you are a part of homeland security,,, i am a part of homeland security,,,, @tialoca_talks - and you are part of homeland security as well,,, as long as you play ball,,,
playing ball consists of turning in your parents, your kids, your neighbors of any offense,, real or imaginary,,,, if your not with them you are against them,,,,
i can protect myself against just about any advisary,,, homeland security is about the greatest advisary around,,, and the little red line under the word hints i misspelled it... advisary that is,,, hmmm,,, didnt underline that time,,, hahahaha.
anyway i guess you could count me as being against them,,, im not planning on bombing any government office,,, but my neighbors are safe... so,, i guess in a way,, im doing my part.
@mejicojohn - yur an idiot
@tialoca_talks - am i??? hahaha,,, id stay and argue about it,, but i have to run to the grocery store,,, maybe when i get back,,, youd have to elaborate a bit tho.....
kinda gives an "urking" feeling =/
What do you expect they made the TSA a jobs program, just like all the rest of the federal goverment.
@trunthepaige - another aa/eoe scheme unionized against the people.
I was thinking this would be one great time for everyone who actually pays taxes to become self employed/independant contractors.
@wolvenchic - a polite way of phrasing that
@mejicojohn - yeah you are either for us or against us--unless you have nuclear weapons or a big wad of cash or natural resources we need. It rang hollow. Andrew Napalatano has been steady in his opposition against the patriot act and homeland security since its inception. He does have credibility on the issue. Conservatives lambasted him for challenging Bush on civil liberties.
You know what's even worse than the fact that it's easy to smuggle bombs in? The fact that the media TELLS THE WHOLE WORLD that it's easy. I mean, hel-LO!! Isn't this an open invitation to some radical to give it a shot? I am all for free press, but the press shouldn't be threatening national security, if that's not too much of an oxymoron.
@homefire - I understand your point . I think though that investigative journalism uncovering such gross mismanagement is sending up a red flag to everyone, if nothing else for everyone to be more aware and not trust those entrusted to protect you and does serve a true positive value here. Understand I am not saying it to be argumentative or to be dismissive of your valid point. I think it does need to be weighed in the balance. OTOH, if we were saying quadron 3 would not detect a nuclear missile breach in its sector above 10000 feet or that to crash the militarys computers all you need to do is follow these five specific steps. In fact, they have not given the exact details, but were fairly general. The point was we are hiring non trained personnel to defend ourselves against trained personnel and unless there is public pressure (through public awareness) to change it, it will be the weak link and where we are hit. I am pretty sure that the reports on airport security breeches already had been tried with small items that could be easily dismissed as mistakes.
I had a brand new two male end two inch long brass connection I picked up at a hardware in New Port Ritchey to solve a design flaw that I misplaced (lodged under the bottom corner of my carry on bag) My brief case had a very thin bent screw driver covered with residual in a small ziplock so the build-up could be analyzed, that I put in placed in a zipper compartment (and forgot about). I went on three trips through security and the brass fitting was never discovered. I found it after I pulled it out for another trip and there was dog hair on it and I vacuumed the inside of the bag. My briefcase, The second trip, tsa flipped out on me in denver for a potential weapon (which it was), but I had set off the chemical "blow" test in the screening device, as I had been working with several chemicals that day. That is what made them look closer, otherwise. I had reasonable and plausible deniability about the screwdriver, but I was pretty matter of fact, you want a gummy screwdriver freaking keep it, but I would sanitize my hands because I dont know what the substance is, that is why it is in a baggie.
Fox News covered some of this last night and I was in shock, but not sure why. What more did I expect??
@oeshpdog2 -Let me preface my reply with the fact I am a realist and because of my worldview I dont live in fear .With that as a premise: I think you/we have a right to be shocked at the abysmal failure rate--100%. I will "give" for a realistic failure rate of perhaps 20% (which is unacceptable) but 100% is inexcusable. It shows a systematic failure and is a false and expensive sense of security. You have a right to be pieved and demand action. I believe that was the intent of both videos by the producers, to provoke action. Thanks for your input!
New York spent 65 million bucks last year on unionized teachers who aren't working and are waiting to be fined or fired...70k a year per sitting teacher...
I posted on this on Wednesday. It is messed up. Affirmative action hasn't helped.
@homefire - I think the terrorists are more than aware of are weaknesses. Even without the help of our glorious press.
@trunthepaige - Right on, that's how it works.
@villainwasright - True, but the idiots probably weren't. I'm not really thinking of smart terrorists here--I'm thinking of those types who just have a grudge against the world.
@ProvokingThought - Yeah, we could definitely take some lessons from Israeli security. Theirs is incredible.

I posted the original video on wednesday also. I read your post yesterday and came back to get the video link for you and got sidetracked., though if I remember your story took a different angle.
@JJ_Ames - can you imagine being a public school teacher in nyc
@homefire - - they dont allow political correctness to get in the way of their mission
They're busy watching us instead of the real terrorists! Am I right about that?
A baby through an x-ray machine. For crying out loud!!! This is scary stuff. I still think the plan is to watch us and let terrorists wreak havoc so certain people can have all the power they want. Why bail out the car companies and Freddy Mac? Put the money where it's really needed! Makes me feel sick. Ugh.
