  • What I've been up to

I haven't been on xanga as much because I have been out in the trenches.  I filed our non-profit corporation papers in Harrisburg two weeks ago when we were down in support of two nullification bills being introduced.

The website for TURN is http://turnpa.com

Here was a write up that ran on the fromt page referencing a meeting we had to see if there was sufficient interest in starting a chapter in a town about 35 miles from here.

Taxpayers organize to protest direction of country
    Thursday, February 04, 2010
    By Dianne Byers Staff Writer
CURWENSVILLE - About 35 people attended a meeting last night at the Curwensville Community Center to determine interest in starting a Taxpayers United for Representation Now chapter.
The meeting was organized by John Wright of Curwensville and John Balliet of DuBois who recently filed articles of incorporation for having TURN declared a non-profit corporation in Pennsylvania.
Wright and Balliet said TURN is a continuation organization hoping to take advantage of the interest garnered by the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) events that began about a year ago and put some action behind the movement.
TEA parties were held to protest the passage of a trillion-dollar stimulus package by the federal government. Balliet said those events sent a message to legislators that most of them are no longer in touch with the needs and desires of the American citizen.
Information provided by Balliet said the TURN members want to tell Congress they are fed up with the current administration creating a nation of people who are dependent on government programs and management when America was founded on being a nation of independent people who cherish freedom.
TURN, Balliet said, will provide focus for turning the momentum of the protests into activities and projects that will hopefully change the direction the nation is headed.
Wright said he believes each TURN chapter would have a slightly different purpose depending on what direction members choose to direct the group's concentration. "Some will be interested in making a change locally, some the state government and others will work on a national level," he said.
Both men said they believe those interests can all exist within the same group as long as members agree government is no longer following the Constitution of the United States and should return to the principles of the law the country was founded on.
Both men said last night they are not interested in creating a third party but want a TURN to be a non-partisan organization made up of people who want to develop a mechanism to alter the nation's current course.
Balliet told the crowd last night that TURN believes the federal government has become too big, inefficient and costly and no longer cares about what its residents want.
He said now is the time to alter the pattern before it is too late.
Wright said last night that if those in the audience agreed, the new chapter could hold monthly meetings with presentations, public policy discussions and guest speakers who would discuss topics oriented to returning to a constitutional Republic, restoring the rule of law and insisting on truth and integrity in the current two-party system.
Wright said in an interview following last night's meeting that a second meeting will be scheduled in March in the Curwensville or Clearfield area with the date, time and place to be announced.

  • Don't be used !

I had to stop and make some time to blog tonight.

I have warned people about this before and I will warn people again. I am not going to argue the point, take it for what it is worth. If you choose not to believe the truth, reject it. Consider yourself warned.

Sarah Palin and Scott Brown have been adopted by many in the tea party movement. Be advised that the dynamic duo plan on going on the campaign trail for John Mc Cain.

I co-founded TURN and I will tell you, to me this represents the antithesis of the values purported to be embraced by those in the teaparty . My suggestion to all--do not be used.

  • Fired up today

    In the good way.

Had a great response last night from people wanting to get involved in running for positions in their precinct and especially current players who showed up and said they local party is broken and wanted to hear our solutions and approach.

We are shooting for a minimum 500% increase in the number of people who run for county committee in their precinct beginning February 16. That is a number that we can achieve. Then when we look at the tally of who is on the ballot we can then mount write in campaigns in the districts that failed to get people on the ballot.

Last year 8 people in my county ran for 142 positions. The ones who were not elected, were appointed. It is no wonder that we have a dysfunctional party, we allowed it to be that way. No sense complaining about it, we have gone into full action and are changing it NOW.

Got to close here and get ready to go to the public seminar on Interstate 80 tolling. Here in PA, Fast Eddie Rendell  is trying to stack the goodie bag full in his last term by taking from the rural sectors and giving to the urban centers. Not so quick Eddie.

Anyone who votes to toll I-80 loses their job as we will campaign long and hard against them. Our current state rep won a write-in cmapaign against a long term rep who voted for the toll.

    Off to the trenches.

  • Gonorrhea Lectim

Most of my readers know I do my best to abstain from hyperbole and check the facts before I post on a topic. I also use great care in the sources I rely on and am quick to correct factual errors that I report.

This morning I received a personal notice from a source I trust that I will expedite as it appears to be credible and the danger of failing to take preventative measures could be devastating!

The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new
virulent strain of Sexually Transmitted Disease. The disease is
contracted through dangerous and high risk behavior. The disease is
called Gonorrhea Lectim..And pronounced "gonna re-elect them."

Many victims contracted it in 2008, after having been screwed for the
past two years. Naturalists and epidemiologists are amazed at how this
destructive disease has become since it is easily cured....by voting
    out all incumbents!

  • My Comment, The Post

Every once in a while a comment turns into a post of it own, especially mine

Here is the post I was replying to. BTW, I have no issue with breitbart.tv's reporting of this:

January 12, 2010 at 11:59 pm - Hot Metal Media
    Dateline: Pittsburgh,  PA
    pic
Red State's Erick Erickson: I swore I was going to keep my mouth shut on this, but I keep getting emails from people along the lines of “if you don’t say it, who will?” Yeah, I guess I have become that guy. I am afraid Sarah Palin is going to harm herself unintentionally over this tea party convention in Nashville.

Here was my response, which is today's post: (I would suggest watching the first twelve minutes to hear what I am responding to)

I am responding to this after watching the first twelve minute. I am going to suggest this video to leaders in grass roots movements because I believe they need to do a gut check as well as be able to respond after giving this some thought.

I have addressed this with leaders on a different level. In Boston they had a tea party and then when the Parliament reacted with more punitive measures , the colonists adapted their redress as well. They didn't’t keep dumping tea in Boston Harbor every year, they were only predictable in their resistance, not their methodology.

Of course, I also feel that there is no need to be defensive about some of the critique, especially from Ms. Maddow. (Compare to Al Gore and Michael Moore who have scammed the governments of the world with junk science greatly enriching themselves while denouncing capitalism and I do not see a parallel. In fact, I do not see a parallel to ACORN either)

Let’s face it, many conservatives in the establishment are out to denounce the ground swell of citizens who are challenging the good old boy system and the people who have exploited conservatives while expanding government and increasing deficits. Others wish to exploit the citizens in stealth republicanism.

I think people that I know of who are involved in citizens and taxpayers groups are more typical. Allow me to share. Patty a mother of three with a husband who is a construction worker who starts and organizes a group that meets monthly because someone has to. Patty walks the street to had out flyers about the first meeting that has the venue pulled when the town council finds out it is a tea party. They leave a note on the door telling where they are meeting to have it removed. The people who don’t get the note meet outside standing around a picnic table, not knowing what happened until later.

The group grows but so do the expenses involved just to rent a meeting place, maintain a website, and advertise. Most expenses are borne out of pocket, especially traveling to rallies, leadership meetings and the expenses of starting and maintaining a organization. In fact, most of the groups are in a tension in just how organized to be because the organization distracts from the mission and why they got involved with organizing a group.

Another factor that a “typical Patty” faces is amount of time that activism takes. Just e-mailing people and keeping current on events takes time, then in coordinating meetings with representatives, addressing concerns with group members, etc. The “typical Patty” ends up being made to make choices because her position is not incoming producing and also competes for her time and attention. In most cases , those involved in grass roots movements are sacrificing time and money to do so.
I also heard mention of the disdain of for profit groups becoming involved in the tea party movement. In many cases , especially in small scale version, this appears to be an attempt to undermine the movement. Nonprofits are much more difficult to organize and maintain than a for profit: be it a unincorporated association, a llc, a partnership, a corporation or a fictious name. This at least gives someone the legitimacy of a “business form” in which to be able to file a profit or a loss and be able to open bank accounts, have a official name, and show stability.

Again, people need to realize that these criticisms are coming from people who routinely support charities who use cause marketing and roughly ten cents on the dollar goes to the charity, the rest to the tele-marketers and the organizations.
Thank you for addressing this topic, it needs to be openly addressed and discussed. When this topic is discussed one needs to take a look at the grass roots movement. What is our unity based on? A Tea Party ? Glenn Beck? CPAC ? Fox NEWS? The Republican Party?

Our unity is limited Constitutional government constrained by the rule of law and the Bill of Rights. We the sovereign people are the ones who grant limited authority to our employees, the government, to fulfill a limited duty described therein. Our rights are inalienable from our Creator and can only be revoked by our Creator. Any government that acts outside that authority or outside those constriction is usurping their authority and therefore has no authority based in law, but usurpation. This unity transcends issues of the day or political parties and movements.

The groups I am a part of are based in a unity of principle and clearly hold that we may (and do) disagree on single issues.  This attempt to undermine the grass roots movements is  transparent and something that should be expected. The two national parties and the establishment is nervous and they plan on attacking. Do not be afraid, be aware. If you are in a leadership position, I suggest you use this as a primer for your fellow leaders.

Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

  • Scorned Voters

    ...take no prisoners.

When you make a big mistake the last thing you want is for the person who warned you to show up and say, I told you so. It has the fingers on the chalkboard effect ~~ totally unnerving. Being cognizant of that reality, I will refrain from making such a remark.

In my last post, My C-Span Must Be Broken , I highlighted two videos that exemplify the audacity of politicians to not only make repetitive promises which they base their platform on, but to show contempt and scorn for those who expect them to make good on their word.

In the first video, Candidate Obama made the health care reform debate on C-span a regular part of his stump speech. He used this as an example of the change that was coming to Washington if he was elected.  These were to be the demands he was going to place on Congress. No more back room deals, it will all be in the open for all to see. I think most would have settled for it being open for all of Congress to see and participate in. The voters gave him the oval office and a majority in Congress to work with to accomplish the promise. But where has President Obama been? Does he lack the intestinal fortitude to actually be the leader he pledged he would be? Does he feel no duty to perform on his promises? Does he lack power in his own party? Or is he a congenital liar?

I also suggest watching the second video with Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Charles Rangel without the audio and just observe their facial expressions and body language. The attitude that this Congressional leadership has toward the american voter who had the audacity to believe, or hope that they were being honest with them is appalling. Perhaps their scorn toward the voter and the constitution is because they believe the people are idiots for taking them at their word and that they are actually subjected to the law.

As I watched this last video, the words of William Congreve in The mourning bride, come to mind :

As you'll answer it, take heed
This Slave commit no Violence upon
Himself. I've been deceiv'd. The Publick Safety
Requires he should be more confin'd; and none,
No not the Princes self, permitted to
Confer with him. I'll quit you to the King.
Vile and ingrate! too late thou shalt repent
The base Injustice thou hast done my Love:
Yes, thou shalt know, spite of thy past Distress,
    And all those Ills which thou so long hast mourn'd;
Heav'n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn'd,
Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn'd.

I believe there will be something that rivals the rage and fury that Congrave wrote about in 1697; the American Voter on November 2, 2010.
